Andrew Harpham-SalterBA, MA, DipS/W DipCT MSc BA
Andrew is a highly experienced psychotherapist, a fully accredited BABCP Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor.
His central aim is to enable the people he works with to regain control over their lives so that they no longer need support. He does this through working with people in an open and genuine way recognising that the clients are the experts of their distress, and that he has expertise in and an understanding of how things can change. It is this partnership with his clients that is so vital.
Andrew has specialised in the assessment and treatment of children with conduct and attachment disorders, school refusal, anxiety disorders, severe depression, OCD, and traumas. He works closely with consultants and general practitioners, but maintains the highest levels of confidentiality.
Andrew is also experienced in working with people who have committed serious offences: working with high levels of anger but also working with the victims of crime. He is able to do this by recognising that it is essential to understand the perspective of the people he’s working with and helping them to question their attitudes and behaviours without feeling judged.
Andrew has significant experience of working with mental health and well-being, working with anxieties disorders: severe PTSD, social and performance anxiety, depression disorders such as major depression, bipolar disorder and OCD, sexual dysfunction, identity and gender issues, relationship difficulties, and personality disorders.
In the last few years Andrew has extended his practice in working with long-term physical conditions such as ME, pain, Asperger’s, and other neurological conditions.
Andrew has many years of experience of developing and training staff teams both within the criminal justice system and education: clinical and corporate. He provides high-quality evidence-based training on a range from teachers to CEOs of large corporations. His expertise is tailoring interventions to the specific needs and desired outcomes for the individual and the organisation
