After taking a degree in Applied Economics and Mathematical Studies and a successful career in IT and IT Audit, Gerda became interested in Acupuncture through personal experience of its healing properties on all levels. She qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in conjunction with Kingston University. There, she trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Acupuncture which enables her to treat the whole person for any physical, mental and emotional issues they may experience as well as specific health problems.
Gerda is a Member of the British Acupuncture Council and since her graduation, she has undertaken a number of post-graduate courses, including Neuro-Muscular taping. This is a technique which involves applying a special tape and helps for problems such as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, stiff neck, back ache and also asthma and fertility issues.
She has also attended specialist courses in the Treatment of Pain with Acupuncture and Cosmetic Acupuncture which not only helps patients’ looks but can also assist with medical conditions such as alopecia, eczema, psoriasis and acne.
Another of Gerda’s special interests is assisting both men and women with fertility issues and she is an Affiliated Acupuncturist Member of the Zita West Network for Reproductive Health and also a Founder Member of ACT Berkshire (Acupuncture for Conception to Childbirth Team Berkshire).
In addition, she also recently completed a course in Korean Hand Acupuncture where the whole body is seen as represented by the hand. This allows treatment to take place for patients with mobility problems by treating points on their hands instead of the body. Gerda has also had training in Auricular Acupuncture where points in the patient’s ears are used, often in combination with body points.
